After the war ended, any ephemera or personal effects that related to the previous South Vietnamese Republic regime were made illegal and ownership of any such items carried fines, prison sentencing, or mandatory "re-education" classes. Most items like this were destroyed or kept hidden, making original examples rare and historically significant.
